PEAK2021 Grantmaking Conference

Exponent Partners will have a virtual booth at the PEAK 2021 Online conference from May 4-13, 2021. PEAK Grantmaking is a member-led organization that began in New York City with two grants managers meeting informally to discuss shared experiences at their foundations. Soon, they engaged other colleagues and, as membership grew, an open and participatory network developed. Today, PEAK Grantmaking is a vibrant member-led community of professionals who specialize in grants management for funding organizations. PEAK’s mission to advance grantmaking so grantmakers and grantseekers can best achieve their missions. Continuing PEAK’s 25-year commitment to centering equity and community, this year’s conference will focus on how to listen to communities, support adaptable communities, learn with our community, and create equitable community.

Join keynotes, breakouts, peer groups, and more, to learn how far the profession of grants management has come, including its growing influence and responsibility, critical work in this moment to meet the challenges of our day, and evolving role as a change leader in philanthropy.  PEAK2021 program helps tell the story of how grantmakers are:

  • Engaging with and investing in community by growing and supporting the capacity of nonprofit partners during this moment of national and international crisis
  • Building trusting relationships by listening and learning from grantees and community partners
  • Moving beyond diversity by creating more equitable practices within their institutions and by aligning actions with goals related to reducing bias and directing more funding and resources to community-led efforts and movements
  • Together creating the future of philanthropy, with BIPOC leaders leading the way

There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to connect with your peer community: Learn more about your local chapter, find an affinity group or community practice to join, or self-organize your own meet-up. Join a wellness activity, a musical performance, or a happy hour – we’ll have something for everyone!

Going Virtual in 2020 with the Conference Theme Courage in Practice

PEAK’s Board of Directors made the decision to cancel the PEAK2020 conference slated for March 9-11 in Seattle due to the COVID-19 outbreak on March 4, 2020. Like so many organizations in the sector, PEAK was able to pivot to gathering in-person to building community online. In May 2020, PEAK hosted their first-ever virtual conference, bringing together more than a thousand grants management professionals and our partners for a series of learning and networking events around the theme, Courage in Practice.

For many of those served, it has been their first opportunity to experience self-determination and they are making remarkable decisions to help support themselves and their families.

The Lili`uokalani Trust was born out of the aloha and care that Queen Lili`uokalani had for the children and families of Hawai‘i. The Trust provides resources to ensure the well-being of Native Hawaiian children and their ohana. Whether your organization’s entire mission is homeless services, or only one program your organization offers, finding a data management solution can be a challenge. Collecting complete and accurate Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data while also tracking data for your specific program is often done in two disparate systems creating dual entry for busy service providers. The HMIS Module allows users to track HMIS compliance data alongside day-to-day operational data in one place, ensuring less time is spent on data entry and more time is focused on your clients.

This webinar explores the new Exponent Case Management HMIS Module with a live demo plus Q & A .

Case Management Made HMIS Compliant

The Exponent Case Management (ECM) HMIS Module provides everything you need to send complete and accurate data to your local Continuum of Care (COC) for HMIS reports such as the Annual Performance Report (APR) and Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR).

From the data entry side, the accelerator includes HMIS assessments as well as processes to support best practices in case management including:

  • HUD Universal Assessment
  • HUD Program Assessment
  • Health Insurance Assessment
  • Non-Cash Benefits Assessment
  • Arizona Self-Sufficiency Matrix
  • Service Planning
  • Service Entry
  • Bed Nights

  • Supports public schools and good healthcare
  • Urges fellow big donors to support solutions that can be replicated across the nation and around the globe
  • Believes philanthropy must advance equity by focusing on the ways that society fails those who are denied basic human rights
  • Pursues advocacy and wants other donors to know that dollars alone do not accomplish what is needed today.

This conversation will help nonprofit leaders understand how to encourage other donors to give generously and wisely – and offers an opportunity for donors, board members and others to deepen their understanding of how they can respond effectively in these tumultuous days.

Supercharged Logic Model: Using Technology as a Bridge between Program Implementation and Evaluation

This session will explore the benefits of using technology to make evaluation frameworks like a Theory of Change or a Logic Model come to life. Explore how technology such as CRM, data visualization tools and analytical programs can be used to help social impact organizations map the data they collect back to their mission and goals through program evaluation frameworks, and better tell the story of their progress. We will demonstrate how organizations can get this powerful information in front of their teams to manage outcomes in real time. We will also talk about how Exponent Partners helps social impact organizations create continuous improvement processes and measure their missions using some of these strategies and tools.

This session will be a hybrid of talk, demo and workshop. We will open by presenting our approach and providing background through some specific case studies, then we will demo some examples of how we have used technology to create Living Logic Models and finally we will guide participants through a short visioning exercise to assess how they can begin this work at their own organizations.

Co-presenters:

Kelly Dwyer, Senior Solution Architect, Exponent Partners
Amy Willard, Senior Consultant, Exponent Partners

Nonprofit Data Sharing: How the Chicago Benchmarking Collaborative Improves Pre-K Literacy and Math Skills for Low-Income Children

This session will explore the use of Einstein Analytics to help nonprofits track program outcomes for actionable insights.

Chicago Benchmarking Collaborative (CBC) is an alliance of seven education and human service agencies dedicated to increasing the quality of services offered to low-income families in Chicago’s most underserved neighborhoods. Christopher House serves as both a member of CBC as well the Collaborative’s Project Manager.

Prior to launching the Salesforce platform with Exponent Case Management (ECM) and Salesforce Einstein Analytics, time-consuming reporting meant infrequent benchmarking and lessened the value of the collaborative.

Exponent Partners has designed a central benchmarking data warehouse powered by Einstein Analytics, which allows the Collaborative to spot trends, problem solve together, and test the most effective strategies for teacher interventions. Einstein Analytics also allows CBC agencies to easily share data visualizations with parents for an immediate impact.

The session will also include a live demo of Einstein dashboards.

Co-presenters:

Traci Stanley, Director of Quality Assurance, Christopher House
Katie VanderHeide, Database Administrator, Erie Neighborhood House
Meg Monti, Sr. Technical Project Manager, Exponent Partners
