PlanningLearn More About Planning
For organizations with more complex system requirements, we offer planning engagements. These engagements are also beneficial in cases where you are not sure what solution you need, and/or you’d like a better assessment of the full cost of an extensive system. Projects consist of discovery, requirement analysis, design, and recommendations. If you’d like to pursue an Agile methodology for your project, it will also consist of user story development.
Business Process Analysis
Analyzing your organization’s processes is core to each planning project. Understanding how your staff does its work and the data you need to collect ensures we translate your needs into the best system design. This has been a long-accepted technique for building successful enterprise software, but often developers building for nonprofits take shortcuts in understanding the unique aspects of these organizations as a whole, not to mention individual variations. Our consultants are experts in business process analysis and apply it in our planning engagements and phases to make sure your solution is as unique as your organization.
StrategyLearn More About Strategy
Technology strategy is a key aspect of your overall organizational strategy. We help you map the appropriate technology to your mission. Common deliverables include technology roadmaps and technology selection.
Strategy for All Stages
Your organization may have a complex set of systems that you want to consolidate into a whole organization solution, or you might be looking to move from spreadsheets to a brand-new system as your organization expands. You might have just begun to track metrics, you might be monitoring your organization’s performance, or you might be managing to outcomes. No matter where you are on this spectrum, we can help you create an approach to technology that supports your mission now and in the future.
Whole Organization Strategy
As your organization and its programs grow, you’ll want to manage more organizational processes with efficient and effective systems. A whole organization strategy brings all of your data into one system, so that you can understand performance in all facets, including across all departments (programs, finance, human resources, development, etc.). You also want to see the interplay of these areas, so that your staff can work cohesively. Each strategy that we develop takes into account this whole organization mindset and recommends systems structures for your entire nonprofit.
ImplementationLearn More About Implementation
Our projects range from two-week simple implementations for a single process to highly complex multi-year engagements that replace organization-wide systems. We’ve built a toolkit of methodologies, processes, and best practices that inform each project.
We offer services for all sizes and types of custom solutions–from small program tracking implementations to large enterprise-scale systems. Our consultants are skilled in both Exponent Scrum (our version of an Agile methodology) and more traditional Exponent Design-Build-Adopt methodologies; we’ll recommend what’s best for your project. Our team has all the skills you need for a complete Salesforce customization, including business analysts, consultants, software developers, quality assurance resources, and data migration specialists. Our experience extends from custom solutions used by local community-based organizations to systems used by 100,000+ users globally.
Business intelligence (BI) is a term that refers to a class of tools and techniques that allow you to consolidate data of interest. It provides sophisticated reporting, graphic visualization via charts, graphs and maps, and rapid analysis of large and/or complex data. BI is often extended to include the tools needed to migrate, consolidate and house the data, which can come from multiple data sources and requires preparation for optimal reporting and analysis. You might consider BI if achieving your mission and improving your programs requires:
- Tracking trends over time involving multiple variables (example: student performance over time, student performance by mentor)
- Using statistical methods to compare your data to a superset (example: client progress relative to a cohort, such as residents of a region or of a particular demographic)
- Visualizing data using charts and graphs plotting multiple data dimensions
- Mapping data geographically
- Providing external stakeholders such as funders, affiliates, volunteers with access to customized views of data in reports and dashboards
- Consolidating large, external data sets correlated with your operational metrics (example: impact data).
